--> Welcome to the 214 Fighter Group, The Blacksheep... And NOW.. The Lafayette Escadrille for Rise of Flight. We have been around quite some time actually, dating back to 1997
-->
The 214th has seen many simulations both jet and prop. Our history contains simulations in the prop world such as European Air War, Janes WWII Fighters, MS Combat Flight Simulator 2, Confirmed Kill Closed Beta, and others.
--> First and formost, this is a place to relax and enjoy the company of other pilots. There is a chain of command and structure to be followed in flight, but we are not overly strict with participation and a plethora of rules. This is for enjoyment. We fly mainly cooperative missions using custom built missions or campaigns generated from Lowengrin's DCG. We also, are not a group that sticks to a certain aircraft. We try to enjoy the entire simulation and fly multiple aircraft.
--> If you are new to the site, have a look around. If you are interested in joining us feel free to use the enlistment form on about/join page. Happy hunting - Widow
Porting of database and pages for Rise of Flight is now pretty much complete. Will still have to set up new pages for Nose/Screen art for the new group but enough has been done to make it functional on the site. As I said.. Enlistment is now open.
With the release of Rise of Flight just around the corner, over the next few weeks I will be making appropriate code changes to the pages and database in order to accommodate the new sim. THe roster page will list pilots individually for each game. ANd there will be two enlistment forms. 1 for IL2/BOB and one for Rise of Flight.
Currently this group will run under the moniker of lafayette Escadrille.
Well.. its been a while since Ive written something here on the main page so... thanks to everybody for making this group what it is. We've got over 75 active campaigns on the server now... which thanks to Renzoli, we've had operational for over a year now. Please visit the SERVER and CAMPAIGNS link to the left for more information.!! I do hope that we can get the air racing started one of these here months in the future. As well, if anyone didn't take notice, we ARE MOD friendly, and the server in fact requires several MODS to participate.
As of today, our Dynamic 24/7 Campaign Server has now eclipsed 40 active campaigns to choose from. More specifically.. 42 campaigns now with the addition of two for Crete. One axis, one allied. For information on the server and the available campaigns, please see the IL2 SERVER INFO link on the left. As well, maps showing the ground units available roots are accessible from the campaign listings page.
To go along with our new dedicated DCG server, we have, thanks to Wildcard, initialized a new teamspeak server. This server is public, as you can see from the display on the left side of the website, and is for public use ONLY in conjunction with flying on our DCG server. Please see the DCG Server Info Page for rules and information.
Thanks to Rnzoli we now have our dedicated server active. Also thanks to Rafe for running the server. This box will run 24/7 and be used for dedicated DCG campaign play. On occasion it will be listed on Hyperlobby/All Seeing Eye or used for dogfights, but for the most part, it will run Rnzoli's DCG server.
Witht he release of the 4.08M patch, we are currently using that as our standard. Unfortuneatly, Oleg and the wacked powers that be desided to SERIOUSLY screw the P38 and the Corsair. from what were remarkably better aircraft in 4.071M. We will continue to fly 4.08M for the time being and be hopeful that they will reverse this travisty and release a 4.09M with the slovakia map, and an FM fix on the poor P38 and Corsair.(Try flying a Corsair off a carrier with any kind of bomb load now) Running a switcher between 4.071M and 4.08M is possible, we just wont be able to use the new maps in 4.08.. regretably those have the italy and new desert maps.. great for the P38 :( Oh well. Sucks to be an american aircraft in IL2. At least they fixed the guns in the navy birds !
Now that most everyone in the group has it, we will be using IL2 1946 Version 4.071M as the new standard. I suggest everyone run dual installs at first, 4.05m and 4.071m, for the next few weeks just incase for flight school as a few members have yet to upgrade.
Flight School starts this Saturday (11/11/06) @ 20:00 hr. CST. If you would like to participate please sign up at the forums under sheep chat, Flight School Registration. If you can't make this one but would like to attend please sign up as there will be another class next week for those who are unable to attend this week.
Event and History Logs for our Dynamic Campaigns are now visible on the OPS SHED. Each campaign underway can now be listed, along with the Host of the campaign and any other information. Hosts are now able to use scripts to automatically upload the debriefing and history files to the website each time a mission is completed. If you want to host a campaign and upload the files this way, contact Widowmaker.
Restructured some of the groups awards to set up qualfiying badges for Level, Skip, Torpedo and Dive bombing. As well as a Carrier Qual and Ace badge (for aquiring 5 or more aerial victories in a single mission). As things are progressing we will start handing those out.
I edited some of the gallery functions and created new ones. Now you no longer have to enter your callsign. It just takes your callsign from your login info and plugs that in, when you go to upload a screenshot or nose art. Yep, thats right, Nose art. I have put up a section now where we can upload our own nose art. Please read each section so you know what size to crop your images to for each one. Also, you no longer need a thumbnail. It creates one on its own. You can also view Nose Art by pilot, or by the general thumbnail listings.
