AIR RACING RULES
---------------------------------------

--RACING WILL BE DONE BY SEASONS. Each season will consist of 90 races. 15 tracks, 1 race per class at each track. 12 standard race tracks and 3 time trials. At the conclusion of a season, and champion will be named, and a brief layoff will ensue before begining the next season

-- RACES WILL BE RUN ON THURSDAY and SUNDAY EVENINGS. Each "race" will consist of three races over the same track, One race for each aircraft class. The classes will be drawn from a hat to decide which order they will be raced. For each week, the same track will be used during both Thursday and sunday racing.

-- TIME TRIALS are run strictly against the clock. Each pilot htting the start line in flight and at full speed. Upon take off, trialing pilot will circle towards the main straight away, gaining no more than 1000 feet altitude. Enter the straight away from the far end and proceed towards the start line. Timing pilot will start timing once the prop arrives at the start line and will continue timing until the prop again touches the start line.

Time trials are ONE lap.

Time Trials have a higher point value than regular races. There is a Time Trial to start the season, In the middle and at the end.

-- TRACK LAYOUTS ARE UNIVERSAL. Chimneys and Blue gates on the right. Red gates on the left. Barrage ballons indicate inside turns. The lighted or tops of unlit chimneys and ballons indicate the top level of flight. It is expected some pilots will fly too high on occasion but excessive flying above these markers will result in disqualification.

-- RACE STARTING. The start lines are indicated by start gates and or fire. Pilots will line up with thier props NO further forward that the most forward extent of the fire line. Starting will be done with a count down on the text line. Engines must remain at idle until the words GO GO GO appear on the chat line, at which time the race commences.

(Or starting can be counted down by one of the pilots)

-- RANKING POINTS
Ranking points are awarded after each Air Race and will decide the Air Race World Series Champion at the end of the season as follows:

First Place: 6 points (8 for Time Trial)
Second Place: 4 points (6 for Time Trial)
Third Place: 2 points (4 for Time Trial)
Fourth Place: 1 points (3 for Time Trial)
Fifth Place: .5 points (2 for Time Trial)

-- TIME PENALITES
Pilots are required to complete the course and fly between the air gates following a predetermined race track. Failure to do this correctly results in penalty seconds being added to their race time. For more serious breaches of the rules, pilots can also be disqualified.

PENALTY SECONDS
These can be added for an incorrect passing of an Air Gate, incorrect passing through the slalom gate, for performing a turning manoeuvre incorrectly and for touching a gate. These penalties are added to the pilot's time at the end of each round, depending on pilot/plane survival.

* Incorrect Passing of an Air Gate
A 1.5 -second penalty is incurred when a pilot:
o passes gates or chicane too high
o performs an incorrect knife-edge (vertical) or level (horizontal) crossing (where applicable)
o performs a knife-edge (vertical) crossing on the wrong side (where applicable). This is when a pilot angles his plane to the left when it should have been to the right, or to the right when it should have been to the left.

* Incorrect Turning Manoeuvre
A 1.5 -second penalty is incurred when a pilot fails to perform a turning manoeuvre correctly (where applicable).

* Touching a Gate
A 10-second penalty is incurred when a pilot:
o touches a pylon or obstacle with the wing or propeller (depending on pilot/plane survival).

DISQUALIFICATION
Pilots can be disqualified for not flying the course correctly.

* Not Flying the Course
